Spring Sweetpeas Promotional Photoshoot

We love working with Sweetpeas Clothier in De Pere for our promotional photoshoots every three months.  If you haven't popped in, Sweetpeas is a boutique specializing in children and infant clothing, accessories and stylish mommy needs.  The great thing for us is that they have such a high-turnover to keep up with the changing seasons, so each time I stop in there is always something new that catches my eye and gets me excited to play dress-up with our little models!

I would like to thank Amelia for volunteering her sweet little Eloise for our spring photoshoot.  Elle is energetic, silly, and full of so many different expressions that kept us on our toes.  We had lots of sweet smiles, and serious faces that showcased her big baby blues, but I couldn't help but absolutely adore the angry little swimsuit model at the top - it has to be one of my favorites!  Thanks again, Amelia, and Happy First Birthday, Eloise!

Check out Sweepeas at www.lovesweetpeas.com for the featured outfits and that cute, little bunny!

{ New Baby Louis! }

The beginning of March starts a stirring in all us mid-westerners, bringing us thoughts of spring.  What could be a more perfect way to start that off than celebrating a new life?  We had the pleasure of photographing Louis Rand and his wonderful family, including his brother Clark (yes, Louis and Clark) who, as he arrived, told me that he had been the one to choose the baby's name.  Actually, I do believe he said, "I named my baby Louis."  :)  Clark entertained us throughout the shoot as little Louis drifted between waking and sleeping, wanting nothing more than to be kept warm in Tamera's embrace.  One of our favorite things is to show the love between parents and their children and newborn sessions give us such a wonderful opportunity to do this.  There is nothing quite so sweet as a new baby in your arms.  Congratulations, Chris and Tamera!

Amanda's Professional Headshots

It is always a pleasure to work with other creatives in the industry, and with Amanda, it was no exception.  Amanda is the owner of Campbell Creativity, a graphic design firm out of Green Bay.  We met downtown for a session making images to be a part of her website "revamp".  We really enjoyed creating relaxed, artistic images that showed off Amanda's personality and her branding.  Creative people deserve creative images and it is a really enjoyable experience for us to be a part of the process.

{ Elyse + Kyle = MARRIED! }

I can't even express how much we love winter weddings, and Elyse and Kyle's big day was exceptional.  The day before their nuptials we got the perfect dusting of snow, just enough to make the world look fresh and new - such a beautiful sign for two people starting their lives together.  The day couldn't have been any more perfect: a traditional Catholic ceremony with heartfelt vows, a wedding gown that all little girls dream of, and a reception with all the small details attended to (including a hot cocoa bar to warm up chilly guests and photographers).

It takes a daring couple to plan a winter wedding in the midwest, where the day could bring rain, sleet or snow topped off with high winds and low temps.  Elyse and Kyle were up for the risk and found an equally brave wedding party to go on that adventure with them.  Their choice gave us an amazing opportunity for stunning photos that we couldn't have even dreamed up.

Sometimes two people are so obviously right for each other and such is the case with this couple; they are both so down-to-earth, empathetic and kind...two people who deserve each other.  It was such a pleasure to be a part of their big day.  Congratulations, Elyse and Kyle!

Personal Post : Meet Our New Puppy

Lately I've been thinking a bit about adding some more personal posts to the blog to show what we've been up to outside of our portrait sessions.  I would like to share a little about how we spend our free time, give updates on our home renovation, and other milestones and celebrations since you share so many of yours with us.

As many of you know, one month ago today we adopted a puppy.  We got Pieper from the Humane Society in Green Bay, where she had been sent from a breeder in Ohio.  Pieper was the runt of the litter with three other siblings also up for adoption.  The Humane Society informed us that she is part rat terrier and part husky (although with her stumpy legs and long body, I think she may have a little dachshund in her as well).  She acts mostly like a rat terrier - likes to sniff out other animals like the rabbits and squirrels that dominate our yard; she is very smart and a little manipulative, and certainly a "Houdini" finding her way out of spaces and situations even when you think it is not possible.  The other main personality trait I read about is that she has an "off switch".  I didn't understand what this meant at first; now I know that it means she goes from being super high-energy, chasing her toys and jumping all over the place, and in a split second she is curled up your lap for a nap.  Unfortunately, visitors just stir up the energy in her, and won't get the opportunity to see the sleepy little puppy who likes to lie belly up under her blanky.

We have had lots of visits from our clients and their children and I would just like to thank all of you for putting up with her crazy puppiness and helping her learn how to socialize with other people.  She did a great job for her first photos (which was unexpected to say the least) and we can't wait until it gets a bit warmer and we can take some outside. :)
